Brooklynites Ex Cops and their post-punk sound invaded the stage at Fete Lounge.

This past Thursday at the Fete Lounge, Brooklynites Ex Cops and their post-punk sound invaded the stage for was to be a night of some of the best up and coming acts in the Northeast put on by local booking company General Assembly. Psych-dream blues trio Motion & The Modern Day and Boston indie rockers Mean Creek rounded out a trio of spectacular talents, you could just feel the brilliance in the air.

Motion & The Modern Day

Motion & The Modern Day featuring Matt DeCosta on guitar and vocals, his brother Mike from Tapestries on lead guitar and drums and Nick Dawson from Ghost Cape on the keys alonh with all sorts of synth kicked things off with authority, these guys have a sound that'll take your breath away. "Mother Nature's Son", "Delta Skelta", "Euphio" and "Broad Way" made me feel like I was on an intergalactic acid trip. Motion & The Modern Day are currently working on their debut full-length but you can check out a few of their tracks on their Bandcamp page that'll take you to another world.

Mean Creek

A band that never ceases to amaze me with their 80's style alternative rock & roll, Mean Creek came up next and became the epicenter of a musical earthquake. "My Madeline", "Johnny Allen", "Do You Know?", "Come On Before It's Gone", "Young & Wild", "Goodnight, Pilot", "Cool Town" and "You Were Wrong" was all in your face and extremely intense, if you haven't seen Mean Creek yet consider this review your journalistic calling card. Mean Creek will be playing next at O'Brien's in Boston on April 12th, so take the T up and check out the best band in Beantown.

Ex Cops

Post-punk pop that has a plethora of rhythm, Ex Cops finished off the night with a very enjoyable performance. "Ken", "You Are A Lion (I Am A Lamb)", "Separator", "Spring Break", "Rooms", "Billy Presley", "James" and "Broken Chinese Chairz" impressed me a lot, very original but at the same time had a contemporary quality to their tunes that kept everything honest. Ex Cops currently have an album out called True Hallucinations that I absolutely loved when I first gave it a listen, I have a feeling you will too. I find it impossible to have a bad time at Fete, they always put on great shows and the sound is pristine.
