For cool fun with amazing creatures, pack up the kids and head to the Mystic Aquarium, in Mystic, CT.

Introducing Moms Can-Do's, a GoLocal weekly feature sponsored by Southwick's Zoo, for moms of little ones--from toddlers to elementary schoolers. Looking for fun things to do during the week? Creative spots for last-minute outings? Fun events especially for little ones? We'll bring you our 5 favorites in the region every Tuesday, and they're all within an hour's drive of home. Sea creatures!

One thing that every kid loves is animals and what better place to see them then the Mystic Aquarium. Filled with sea creatures and fun activities, there is so much to see and do! Your kids will not want to miss out on the 4-D Theatre experience, which is now playing SpongeBob Squarepants: The Great Jelly Rescue. During this 7-minute film you will join SpongeBob and Patrick as you try to rescue Jellyfish from the evil Plankton. Kid movies!

All summer long, Cinemaworld is presenting Kidfest! Every day at 10am Cinemaworld will be playing a family friendly G or PG rated film just for your kids. Some of the movies include Rise of the Guardians, The Lorax and timeless classic, Annie. New movies will premier every Friday till the end of the summer. Don’t miss out on this Friday’s premier, Madagascar 3. Garden party!

Every kid loves a party and Green Animals Topiary Garden is hosting one just for your kids! Overlooking Narragansett Bay in Portsmouth, this magical garden is filled with lifelike shrubs in the shapes of animals that your kids will love. There will also be pony rides, bounce houses, crafts and games, clowns, a magician and circus acts. The party begins at 4:00 pm on July 14th. Your kids will not want to miss this! Play!

There is no better feeling for a parent then when their kids are learning and having fun! At the Children’s Discovery Museum, Kids discover open-ended, interactive exhibits that encourage exploration and imagination. Whether it is learning how to use a lobster trap, conducting a train or interacting with one of the many other exhibits, your kids will be occupied all day long. Water fun!

Do your little ones have too much energy? Take them to Breezy Picnic Grounds and Waterslides for a family fun day. This recreational facility is the perfect place for your kids to get rid of all that excess energy. There is lots of open space for them to run around, fly a kite or partake in other sport activities, a lake for swimming with certified lifeguards, sandy areas for sand castle building or searching for buried treasure, and a snack bar and game rooms for when it is time to get out of the sun.
