School is almost out and if you are still thinking about sending your child to summer camp for a week or more, there are some great creative summer camps across the state. Day camps in Rhode Island offer a wide variety of activities for children and there are many specialty camps that might just spark the interest of your child and turn the summer into a learning adventure.

From camps that focus on the arts to those that specialize in sports, video game design or nature, there is something for every interest. Camps run for just one week or for the whole summer. Here are some creative ideas for summer camps if you're still trying to find a great camp this summer.

If your child is an explorer and loves nature, this is the perfect camp. There are two camp locations in Rhode Island, including the Bristol and Smithfield Audubon Wildlife Refuges. Children will explore woodland trails, fields, salt marshes, and the rocky shore this summer. These Audubon camps offer a wide variety of activities including habitat explorations, wildlife studies, hikes, animal visits and crafts. There's a low camp-counselor ratio, too. Each camp has a maximum of 15 campers per two staff. Camps are broken up into age groups with programs for children ages 3 to 16.

Weekly camp prices range from $195 per week and up, depending on the program. Audubon Society of Rhode Island Summer members get a sizable discount. For more information click here.
