Don't Sing at the Table - Life Lessons from my Grandmother
, Adriana Trigiani

Anything by Adriana Trigiani is a must-read! I have enjoyed all of her novels and now she gives her readers something new - also from her heart - this incredibly special memoir about life lessons with her two grandmothers. Adriana weaves in their stories with her own and it's a satisfying as a wonderful meal up on the Hill.

The Blessing of a B Minus
, Wendy Mogel

Wendy Mogel's The Blessing of a B Minus is a MUST read for all parents! Brilliant! This woman is spot-on. Wendy's first book, Blessing of a Skinned Knee, focused on younger children and allowing them to fall, to learn. She's back with her latest and it focuses on the 11-20ish age. The years that our children are pushed from too many sports to believing that they need to cure diseases in order to get into the one and only college that will ensure success (if not a job). The woman knows of what she speaks!

Helen of Pasadena
, Lian Dolan

Funny! Sharp! A book that women will enjoy - a treat for those snowy days that will come. Lian is the queen of keen social observations and many laugh-out-loud scenes. I can imagine this on the big screen.

My Passion for Design
, Barbra Streisand

Babs! Everything she does is like buttah! This book is no exception. Much has been made of Barbra's obsessive attention to detail, but after looking at the magnificent photos in this book, I say, "So?" Well-worth the passion and love that radiates from these gorgeous pages. I would be happy spending the week in one of her closets if only to her hum a few notes.

This is Where I Leave You
, Jonathan Tropper

Funerals aren't generally funny - but for this family during the traditional week of mourning, shiva, the laughs keep coming. It begins, "Dad's dead." "How's Mom doing?" "She's Mom, you know? She wanted to know how much to tip the coroner." The reader spends seven hilarious, poignant and loving days with the Foxmans... I wish it had been longer.
