It’s another great weekend for live music in the GoLocal neighborhood. Read on for our top picks in “5 Live Music Musts.”

Jay Farrar at Narrows

We start tonight in Fall River where Jay Farrar will be appearing at The Narrows Center. Farrar is best known as co-founder of the seminal alt-country band Uncle Tupelo. He followed up by leading Son Volt through several critically acclaimed albums and is now touring as a solo act. Expect to hear a lot from his recent release, One Fast Move or I’m Gone: Music from Keroac’s Big Sur, a collaboration with Benjamin Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie. New Zealand born singer-songwriter Peter Bruntell opens at 8PM. Tickets are $28.

Brett Michaels at Twin River

Also tonight, Brett Michaels, formerly of the hard rock band Poison, will be at the Twin River Events Center. Michaels, a bona-fide superstar whose albums regularly go platinum, has moved in a more country-rock direction in recent years. Some good seats remain starting at $42.75 with the show beginning promptly at 8PM.

Gin Mill Jane at Dusk

There’s a great show ahead tonight at Dusk headlined by Gin Mill Jane. Behind Heather Randell's soulful vocals, the band melds blues, folk, gospel, and jazz, creating a sound that is both reminiscent and modern. GMJ is celebrating the release of their EP, Till You Come Back Home. It’s a great line up with St. James and the Apostles, Denver Boot, and The Quahogs opening. Tickets are $5 for the 9PM show.

Duke Robillard at the Knickerbocker

Also Tomorrow night, catch newly inducted RI Music Hall of Fame legend Duke Robillard at the Knickerbocker Cafe in Westerly. The accolades continue to roll in for our own “Sir Duke” who is returning to live performing after a hand injury this winter. Duke’s band joins the master guitarist for a great night of blues, jazz and more blues. Tickets are $15 and the band takes the stage around 8PM.

Angel Olsen at Fete

Finally, singer-songwriter Angel Olsen will be performing at Fete Sunday night. The St. Louis native has just released a new album, Burn Your Fire for No Witness. The indie artist has toured with Bonnie “Prince” Billy and the Cairo Gang. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. Promised Land South opens at 7PM.
