Before you know it, they will be out of school. Here's a fun weekend that will feel like vacation.

Kido Tip 1. Make art!

Next week an awesome public art project starts in downtown Providence at the Bank of America Skating Center. The Providence 375 Tape Art Installation along with workshops, film viewings and

local conversations starts June 9th. The cool thing about public art is it's free and accessible to all. In anticipation of the event make your own public art in your driveway or local park with chalk or tape. For more information about making your own Tape Art, check Kidoinfo for details. Kido Tip 2. Carry sunscreen.

Seems simple enough but there are many times I find my kids and I have raced out of the house with out putting sunscreen on only to find ourselves at a park or outdoor event exposed to the harmful sun rays. I try to stock my car (used to be the stroller) with all the essentials and now that it is finally warming up, I plan to add sunscreen to my list of must-haves.

Kido Tip 3. Celebrate a birthday

Although we live in a world full of big box stores, an abundance of video games and licensed merchandise I love that independent stores like this toy shop exist in our local community. To help them stay around we need to show our support. The Toy Shop has planned fun all weekend long with discounts on all purchases. Saturday, June 4, is party day, featuring cupcakes and refreshments, a raffle for a Playmobil Zoo set, Go-Go giveaways. At 11am and 1pm, Barrington’s own 12-year old yo-yo champion, Connor Madeiros, will demonstrate his award-winning tricks with Yomega yo-yo’s. The Toy Shop, 450 Hope Street in Bristol, RI.
