Vacation's coming! You ready? Now's the time to plan with our list, plus more tips for fun with the kidos.
Kido Tip 1. Clean out winter, finally.
I think it may be safe to finally wash the winter gear and pack it away for next season. Matchless gloves and mittens are tossed into a bin for later crafty projects - these make awesome monsters by adding a bit of
stuffing, goggly eyes, buttons and pipe cleaners Stitch the bottom closed to finish it off. Outgrown boots, hats and gloves can be donated now or stored in the attic awaiting donation next cold weather season to a local shelter or school.'
Kido Tip 2. April School Vacation Plans
Public school vacation week is right around the corner. Rhode Island will be hopping with special events. Unless your family’s planning a vacation to far away lands, we recommend mapping out some vacation week plans now to make sure you don’t miss out on anything. Check the
Kidoinfo events calendar for details. Special events planned at the usual favorite family hot spots; Providence Children's Museum, Roger williams Park Zoo, Audubon Society of Rhode Island and libraries all across Rhode Island.
Bring your imagination and recycled materials! Children, schools, community groups, and adults from across the state are invited to participate in the creation of a city made from recycling materials. Some of you may remember the first community built city in 2007 at Fox Point Library. This April, Mary Geisser, a local artist and teacher, in collaboration with Anne Shattle, the Children’s Specialist at Fox Point Library, the city will make its return to the Fox Point Community. Together everyone will be creating a city from junk and found objects that will be on display in the library. From sky scrapers to rocket ships the only limit is your imagination. All workshops are free to the public!
Workshop Details:
Tuesday-Friday: April 12-15 from 3-5 pm
School Vacation Week: Tuesday-Friday, April 19-22 from 1-4pm
Closing Celebration: Tuesday, April 26 from 5-7pm
