Friday, July 29, 2011
It's going to be a great weekend - perfect for creative activities with the kidos. Here's a trio of inspired ideas.
Kido Tip 1. Take a trip to the moon at Wooly Fair
What do you get when you combine one part carnival, one part arts fair, add in some original performances, moon buggy races, and dancing robots, top it all off with an alien parade and send it shooting off to the Moon? Wooly Fair VII! This year, Providence’s own do-it-yourself art carnival is inviting the whole family to join in for some weird, wild, out-of-this-world fun designed especially for space explorers 14 and under and their adventurous parents.
Special kids’ activities from 2 – 6 pm include: A circus arts workshop by Marvelous Marvin, moon buggy races, alien/spaceman maskmaking, an original space ballet performance, a special performance by Master Class, a children’s parade with special appearance by Big Nazo and the Extraordinary Rendition Band and much more! Space explorers of all ages are invited to come in costume or make your own at the Fair! To the Moon!Details:
Where: The Steel Yard - 27 Sims Ave, Providence, RI

Kido Tip 2. Visit a Rhode Island beach on July 31st. For Free!
Take advantage of a free day at the beach thanks to the annual Rhode Island tradition called Governor's Bay Day when parking at all Rode Island state beaches is free plus there are lots of cool special happenings planned all over the state! Yes the beaches will be more crowded than usual but if you pack up and head to the beach early you will be assured parking and a pick of where to lay your towel.

Kido Tip 3. Harry Potter Day!
JK Rowling and Harry Potter share a birthday on July 31st. Seems like we have been celebrating all month since the release of the final film. In our house we have been talking about our favorite characters, reading the books, watching and re-watching the movies, dressing as wizards and eating chocolate frogs. How about you?
