Education Commissioner Deborah Gist Headlining Martini Event

It's not often that you can get some facetime with Rhode Island's nationally recognized Commissioner of Education, and usually that's over a hot lunch in a public elementary school.
But this week, Deborah Gist will the featured speaker at Ladies High Tea (LHT), the martini-fueled monthly networking night in Providence that is for women only. On June 30, the Commissioner will give LHT's classic 7-minute oration: her topic? "Teacher - Commissioner - Student." Gist appears in a forum that features networking and cocktails, but the promise that no woman can ask another woman during the event to give money, serve on a board, join a crusade, or feel guilty.
Company as good as the cocktails
The Commissioner continues to enjoy a high profile nationally, from being featured in Time Magazine's Time 100 issue for 2010 as well as Atlantic Monthly's 20 Brave Thinkers 2010.
