The Center for Southeast Asians will hold its fundraiser "Evolution of Southeast Asians" to honor their journey as immigrants to America.

Center for Southeast Asians (CSEA) will hold its premier fundraising event, “Evolution of Southeast Asians,” on Friday, August 23, from 5:30-8:30pm at Providence Marriott on Orms Street, in Providence. The event will include a cocktail and Hors d’oeuvres reception, as well as traditional Southeast Asian live music and dance performances.

The CSEA community is proud to be celebrating the heritage, the rich culture, and the evolution of Southeast Asians in Rhode Island and in America, and invites the greater Rhode Island community to commemorate, honor, and celebrate their journey with them.

A long journey

Many of the community remained rooted in two worlds: the home that they left, and the new one of opportunity. "Our community arrived in America as refugees from Southeast Asia, with very little in our pockets, but with plenty of hopes and dreams. We worked in the factories and other odd end jobs to support our families, slowly paving our way to become business owners, restaurateurs, and working professionals," says the CSEA, which aims to reaching out to the community, especially those who have not yet established a sure footing.
