High-End Jewelry Designer Tiffany Peay Rocks Rhode Island

Tuesday, June 08, 2010

Now (and pay attention), Tiffany Peay has called back all her stock that was out on consignment, to her brand-new shop in the center of Tiverton Four Corners.

Every jewelry lover should be glad Peay has fallen in love with Tiverton Four Corners.

It used to be that the easiest way to obtain Peay's delicate gold and gemstone necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrrings, was to buy her pieces at high-end gallery-style jewelry boutiques.

Now, with a new shop in this village art and shopping mecca, she's offering

all these pieces at last year's gold prices until the stock is depleted, so now is the time to get in the car

and make the drive to Tiffany Peay Jewelry. Because gold is going up.

National Attention

"I have not done this in my 13 years of business," says the designer, whose work has appeared in magazines like InStyle and Self, and was worn by Julia Roberts in the film Stepmom. "I plan to sell all my work at its original prices this summer and then bring to market value before putting it back out into the world for the Christmas season."

No matter what the price of gold, Peay's pieces are exquisite strands of fine gold links and gemstones, a look she defines as Modern Heirloom.  She keeps her palate delicate, taking advantage of pinks, greens, and other candy tones.  They look beautiful in a tray, but truly remarkable on.  They warm to skin tones and pick up light in delicate, absorbing ways.

"My work is about color and movement," Peay says.

"The thrill for me is to see how it makes a woman feel.  The jewelry can make one feel beautiful, confident and special.  We love to help you find just the right piece, we try many until it 'sings' on the wearer.  The beauty of making it all myself is that each piece can be tailored to the customer's needs.  Everyone needs a different size, and I can adjust it for the perfect fit."

Peay, who used to create her line from her Victorian home in Fall River, had been drawn to the pro-artist community of Tiverton Four Corners several years ago, but was crafting out of a studio tucked away from the street traffic.  Her move in late May to her charming street-level cottage shop confirms her trust in her adopted community.

"Tiverton Four Corners has a unique mix of high-end shops and artists," she says.  "I like the community of retailers, in fact I am the president of the Merchants Association.  I am fortunate not to have to collect sales-tax

because I'm located in the Village Commercial Zone where artists can apply to be sales-tax exempt. Which is great for my customer, considering my line is fine jewelry. The landscape is paradise and I love the relaxed atmosphere."

Prices range from earrings beginning at $295 to necklaces at $3,000+. Tiffany Peay Jewelry, 3851 Main Rd, Tiverton Four Corners, open Wed-Sat 10-5pm, Sun 12-5pm (closed Mon & Tues) in June, open 7 days July-Aug, appointments available: 888-808-0201, www.tiffanypeay.com.
