Beloved Authors Jane Green, Sarah McCoy + Jenna Blum Coming To RI

Monday, July 29, 2013

New York Times bestselling author Jane Green will appear in Rhode Island in September at An Evening With Authors.

Three best-selling authors--Jane Green, Sarah McCoy, and Jenna Blum--will join radio host Robin Kall in Rhode Island at the Providence Public Library for the fifth installment of An Evening With Authors 2013 on September 25th at 7pm. The event's move to Providence's Public Library will also showcase the latest renovations to the beloved city institution.

The event, which draws avid readers and sells out well in advance every year--gives guests the opportunity to spend an intimate evening with some of America’s most beloved writers while supporting the Love, Carol Foundation. Started by Kall and her sisters Laura and Jennifer, Love, Carol fundraises for families touched by breast cancer.

Previously this event has drawn in the likes of Tom Perrotta, J. Courtney Sullivan, and Ann Hood. This year's writers continue the tradition of high-profile writers sharing their stories with guests (and signing books, of course!). The authors are:

Jane Green (Family Pictures)

Green is the author of 14 New York Times bestselling novels, dealing with real women and all the things life throws at them, with her trademark wisdom, wit and warmth.

A former feature writer for the Daily Express in the UK, Green took a leap in faith when she left, in 1996, to freelance and work on a novel. Seven months later, there was a bidding war for her first book, Straight Talking, the saga of a single career girl looking for the right man. The novel was an immediate top-ten bestseller in England, and Green was an overnight success.

Author of the acclaimed The Baker's Daughter, Sarah McCoy joins fellow writers in Rhode Island.

Now in her forties, Green has graduated to more complex, character-driven novels that explore the concerns of real women's lives, from marriage (The Other Woman) to motherhood (Another Piece of My Heart) to divorce, stepchildren, affairs, and most recently, midlife crises (Family Pictures).

Sarah McCoy (The Baker's Daughter)

McCoy is author of the international bestseller and 2012 Goodreads Choice Award Best Historical Fiction nominee The Baker’s Daughter. Her first novel is The Time It Snowed in Puerto Rico. She has taught English writing at Old Dominion University and at the University of Texas at El Paso. The daughter of an Army officer, her family was stationed in Germany during her childhood. She calls Virginia home but presently lives with her husband, an Army physician, and dog, Gilbert, in El Paso, Texas. She is currently working on her third novel for Crown/Random House.

Jenna Blum (Those Who Save Us)

Meet internationally bestselling author Jenna Blum in September.

Blum is the New York Times and # 1 international bestselling author of Those Who Save Us (Harcourt, 2004) and The Stormchasers (Dutton, 2010). Jenna is also one of Oprah's Top Thirty Women Writers.

Jenna's debut novel, Those Who Save Us, is a New York Times bestseller and the # 1 Book of 2011 in Holland. Those Who Save Us is also a Boston Globe bestseller and the 2005 Ribalow Prize winner, adjudged by Elie Wiesel. Those Who Save Us is a perennial book club favorite; to talk about Those Who Save Us, Jenna attended over 800 book clubs in the Boston area alone.

Jenna's critcally acclaimed and reader-beloved 2nd novel, The Stormchasers, which Jenna researched by chasing tornadoes for six years with stormchase company Tempest Tours, is also a Dutch bestseller, a Boston Globe bestseller, a Target Emerging Author Pick, and a BORDERS bestseller.
