Deconstructing The Beatles
Monday, October 04, 2010
Composer, arranger and producer Scott Freiman is more than your average Beatles superfan. Merging his love of music and sound with that of The Fab Four, Friedman moves past the personalities of John, Paul, George and Ringo and delves into the stories behind the music in a nationwide multimedia lecture tour, A Trip through Strawberry Fields: Deconstructing the Beatles, which comes to Newport’s Jane Pickens Theater this Thursday. “Plenty of books talk about who liked who and who hated who, but I like to focus on the music," said Freiman. “The Beatles were such innovators, and there are some great stories rarely heard.”
Behind the Music
Frieman said the presentation combines rare audio and a few video clips of the band, weaving in anecdotes about the recording sessions, that engage everyone from the casual Beatles fans to decades-long connoisseur. “I’ve had ages 8-88, no exaggeration, in the same crowds,” he said, “and I always hear, ‘I’m never going to listen to music the same way.’”
A Trip through Strawberry Fields: Deconstructing the Beatles at the Jane Pickens Theater is October 7 at 7pm. Click here for more details and to purchase tickets.
