What better way to pay tribute to America's compassionate, oddball troubadour than by hosting a night in his honor to benefit a soup kitchen?

On the heels of Tom Waits' induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, The 201 in Providence will host a Tom Waits Tribute on April 1, to benefit Amos House's Soup Kitchen.

Honoring Waits' music, writing

According to organizers, the event was inspired by Tom Waits' recent fundraising for homeless organizations, as well as the release of his first book of poetry— Hard Ground—which pairs his writing with poignant portraits of homelessness by Michael O'Brien.

All proceeds from the tribute will be donated to the Amos House Soup Kitchen. Amos House is a nonprofit social services agency that provides hospitality and direct services to the homeless and poor of Rhode Island. Amos House works in collaboration with other agencies and groups to address issues of hunger, homelessness and poverty.
