Thursday, December 05, 2013
You’ve finished your turkey, emptied the cranberry sauce, and swallowed the last of the pumpkin pie. Now what? Christmastime, of course! Even with Rhode Island’s signature unpredictable weather, it’s clear that winter is officially on its way. Check out these festive and fun events to get you into the spirit of the season!
Narragansett Festival of Lights
Sunday Narragansett’s town center is your next festive stop this weekend. Bring your family to the Narragansett Festival of Lights to see the luminaries along the sea wall, listen to the music, and ride on the holiday-decorated trolleys. For entrance to the morning’s arts and crafts event, bring a canned good to donate to Narragansett’s “Holiday Cupboard”! Kids won’t want to miss the library puppet show or face painting, and everyone gathers in the evening to watch the tree lighting and fireworks display. 10am to 7pm at the Center of Town. Narragansett Pier, Narragansett, RI. 401-782-0658.
The RI Film Collaborative’s Roaring 20s Black & White Gala
Saturday The Rhode Island Film Collaborative proudly hosts its sixth annual Black & White fundraising gala this weekend. Arrive at 6pm for the cocktail reception or at 8pm for the event itself—both are discounted if you’re an RIFC member! Come for the live music and stay for the open air photo booth, the burlesque performance, the local beer, and the living art. All proceeds benefit the Rhode Island Film Collaborative, so make like the Great Gatsby and dance the night away—and don’t forget to buy your tickets in advance. 6pm Cocktail Reception, 8 pm Gala at the Providence Convention Center Rotunda Room. 1 Sabin Street, Providence, RI. 401-484-7432.
