The classic, swashbuckling Pirates of Penzance is coming to Providence this weekend.

From pirates to face painting, there’s something fun for everyone this weekend. Don’t miss your chance to celebrate summer at these outdoor events with friends and family!

Pirates of Penzance Opening

Friday-Sunday It's opening weekend for the Gilbert and Sullivan classic “Pirates of Penzance”, presented by Opera Providence. Don’t miss Julianne Gearhart, Joshua Collier, Ana Ugarte, Ryne Cherry, Andy Papas, Kristen Charpentier, Arielle Rogers, Devon Morin, and additional chorus as they take the stage. Check out Rene De La Garza as the artistic director while Nathaniel Merchant directs the stage! Columbus Theater, 270 Broadway, Providence. “Secret Cinema” LGBTQ International Film Festival Preview

Friday To welcome in Gay Pride month, Rhode Island International Film Festival is hosting an opportunity to preview films the LGBTQ program will feature during the main Festival in August. Don’t miss your chance to access never before seen films and vote for the ones you want to see featured at the main festival! Come watch films that focus on the growing social and political issues for LGBTQ youth and check out one of the top 10 festivals in the country and the largest film festival in New England. 2nd Annual Esophageal Cancer Walk/Run

Friday Come get exercise and support The Salgi’s Esophageal Cancer Research Foundation’s 2nd Annual Event. Walk or run through Warwick City Park with friends, family, and even pets for the day! Unable to attend? Don’t worry and donate to http://www.salgi.org/donate. The mission of the walk hopes to raise awareness, encourage early detection, and support research in hopes to find a cure and an end of esophageal cancer. Warwick City Park, Warwick. June 15th. 9 am. $20 in advance, $25 day of. Children 12 and under and pets walk for free.

Welcome to Summer Celebration 2013

Saturday Come down to the Bonnet Shores Beach Club in Narragansett and start the season off at the Welcome to Summer Celebration fundraiser. Don’t miss Roger Ceresiis All Starz performance at the benefit. All proceeds from the event go to Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State (BBBSOS). 22nd Annual Burrillville Family Fair

Saturday Bring the family and enjoy the outdoors for traditional fair activities, food, and games at no cost. The fair will have an old fashioned twist to keep all ages entertained, featuring plenty of food, informational vendors, demonstrations, caricatures, face painting, old fashioned picture area, art celebration, farmer's market, farm animals, and fun for the whole family.
