Mary Poppins at PPAC

Friday-Sunday  Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! Mary Poppins is coming to Providence this weekend. A spellbinding performance of song, dance, and costume, Mary Poppins is sure to please everyone. Mardi Gras in Woonsocket

Saturday  Can’t make it to New Orleans for this year’s Mardi Gras? Don’t worry; it’s coming to you! Don your most lavish costume, most colorful beads, and most festive attitude for 2012’s annual Northern RI Council on the Arts Mardi Gras Celebration! Dance it up at the CYO Center’s Mardi Gras Ball, featuring the Slippery Sneakers band performing zydeco, blues, soul and Cajun music, with a buffet served 6:30 – 8 pm. St. Ann's Art & Cultural Center will also have live music from The Jeff Gamache Orchestra, playing swing, blues, country, disco and rock & roll. Bring the kids to an earlier Children’s Mardi Gras celebration from 11 am -2 pm at the CYO Center for a costume party and contest, parade, entertainment, food and more! 5:30 -11 pm. Edgar Allan Poe Returns to Cranston

Saturday  Celebrate Valentine's Day by burying it alive in poetry. Edgar Allan Poe wrote that the death of a beautiful woman is the most poetical topic in the world. Explore the thin veil between love and death with Poe himself, returning

from the grave to read from the works that best display his fascination with these topics. Poems include Annabel Lee and The Raven. Black Box Theatre at Artists' Exchange, 50 Rolfe Square, Cranston. 6 pm to 8 pm. Admission $5-$6. For more information, go here.

60th Annual RI Ski Runner's Ski and Board Race

Sunday  Miss the snow this winter? Head up into the mountains for a ski competition this weekend! All Rhode Islanders are encouraged to come and show your stuff. Whether you’re a competitive skiier, an avid boarder, or just in it for the thrill, you can enjoy an Easy GS course for all abilities and fun race with trophies, raffles, and prizes for all! Lincoln’s Birthday in Lincoln

Sunday  President Lincoln may have died over a hundred years ago, but his memory still lives on. Come celebrate Lincoln’s 203rd birthday in the town named after him this weekend. Lincoln, Rhode Island will be hosting a learning session, tour, and birthday cake at Arnold House in honor of our 16th president. 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Arnold House, 487 Great Road, Lincoln. Free.
