One of America’s funniest TV families is coming back home to Rhode Island for the weekend. Family Guy fans do not want to miss this exclusive Family Guy RI Road Trip. Check out this, plus 4 more must-do events this weekend.
The Family Guy Rhode Island Road Trip
Saturday: ‘Family Guy’ fanatics will go crazy for this unique chance to tour local sites that have inspired the hit Fox animated comedy. Staffers from Quahog.org will lead the tour, highlighting connections between the show and the state. Stop by state favorites like McCoy Stadium, Del’s Lemonade, and the Drunken Clam in Johnston. Travel back to the '80s in Newport
Saturday: Don your most outrageous 80s apparel and head on over to Sail Newport’s “Totally Shipwrecked” fundraiser to benefit Sail Newport’s youth and adult public access sailing programs. Attendees should get creative with their costumes, as prizes will be awarded for “Best Overall,” “Most Creative,” and “Best In” categories for 80s favorites like Madonna and Michael Jackson. The event will feature the popular Boston-based band Safety. 7pm, Bellevue Gardens Shopping Center, 181 Bellevue Ave, Newport. Saturday: Break out your light sabers and head over to the Providence Community Library because The DK Star Wars Attack of the Authors East Coast Tour is hitting Rhode Island. Author Ryder Windham and the costumed characters of the 501st Legion will be bringing the force as well as tons of fun prizes for Star Wars lovers. Great for kids and, um, bigger kids. 2:30-4:30pm, Providence Community Library (Knight Memorial Library), 275 Elmwood Ave, Providence.
Tour the Hidden Kitchens of Portsmouth
Friday: Want a little kitchen envy? Home chefs will love this chance to get an exclusive peek at seven Portsmouth kitchens, each with enviable unique features. Stay fortified with tastings along the way from local restaurants, caterers and merchants. Proceeds benefit the Portsmouth Public Education Foundation. 11am-7pm, $25 per person. Saturday: Attention indiephiles: popular rock indie band Interpol will be playing in Providence this weekend at Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time as well as at the door.
