Chowder Cook-Off in Newport
Saturday Save your appetite for this one! The world's original and longest running chowder competition determines bragging rights to the world's "chowda" champion title among dozens of restaurants, divided into Clam, Seafood, and Creative chowder categories. Noon-6pm, Newport Yachting Center, 4 Commercial Wharf. $20 Advance – Purchase discounted ticket through June 1st; $25 day of event. All tickets above include children under 12 FREE with an adult. Taste of Block Island
Friday-Sunday What better way to pass a summer weekend than on our own offshore island, taking advantage of more than 60 local businesses? From gallery openings, wine & beer tastings, to shopping discounts, hotel specials, restaurant specials, and kayak tours, Block Island presents the very best it has to offer. Taste of Block Island Buttons will be available for purchase at the Block Island Chamber of Commerce Office, aboard the Block Island Ferry and the Block Island Express for $5 per button. The Transit of Venus Part 1: Walking Tour in Providence

6th Annual Visitors Day at Swiss Village, in Newport
Saturday Take a self-guided tour through the historic site, view several endangered breeds of livestock, and learn about SVF's scientific mission. This event is free to the general public.
