Here comes March, Rhode Island, which means we're already up to some St. Patrick's Day celebrating, plus those Blue Guys are in town. And a whole lot more for your perfect late-winter weekend.
Blue Man Group at PPAC, Providence
(Friday-Sunday) The wildly popular men in blue return to the Providence Performing Arts Center with a show featuring brand new content highlighted by classic blue man favorites. The new sound, set, and video design centering on a proscenium-sized LED curtain and high-resolution screen create an entirely new, high-impact visual experience for Broadway houses across the nation. St. Patrick's Day Parade, Pawtucket
(Saturday) Get a jump on the green with the 31st Pawtucket Saint Patrick’s Parade. Bring the kids, bring your friends, bring everyone you know to celebrate this great Pawtucket tradition. Enjoy marching bands, pipers, acrobats and vehicles of every size and type. Remember you don’t have to be Irish to enjoy the fun. And after the parade the fun still goes on with a gigantic party. (Saturday) Step back in time at Parker Woodland Wildlife Refuge in Coventry and experience the history of maple sugaring. Learn how maple sugaring started with Native Americans and how to make this sweet syrup in your own backyard. Sample pancakes, muffins and doughnuts - all with fresh maple syrup. Great Tastes of Narragansett, Narragansett
(Friday-Sunday) Great Tastes of Narragansett, the Restaurant Week kick-off event that celebrates the wonderful restaurants and food of South County, includes offerings from 10 local restaurants along with samplings from Narragansett Beer, a cash bar, raffles and live entertainment. General Admission tickets are $15 per person. All general admission ticket holders will be welcome to enjoy the event from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.VIP Hour from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm. VIP tickets are $25. Plunge For Preemies
(Saturday) Come out and brave the cold at the Narragansett Town Beach for a great cause--premature infants and the health and wellbeing of them as well as their families, via Project Sweet Peas. Whether you are brave enough to take The Plunge, or just want to come out and join the festivities and cheer us on, it's promised to be an event you don't want to miss. Post Plunge Party includes buffet style dinner, music, silent auction, raffles, prizes and more! Post Plunge Party is free to all sponsored plunge participants! Spectators $30. 2-6pm.
