Boston's Lake Street Dive Plays Fete Thursday
Another busy week on the local music scene as we feature several shows happening around the state starting tonight. Classic rock, modern sounds, some R&B, an acoustic festival and an important fundraiser in memory of a local musician make our list of “5 Live Music Musts.”

David Hemingway Memorial
Dave Hemmingway was a soulful drummer and popular musician in the Providence music scene. His untimely death a year ago due to testicular cancer was tragic, but Dave’s legacy lives on. A benefit will be held tomorrow night at the Columbus Theatre where a slew of local artists will be playing a fundraiser in Dave’s memory. Bands include Tall Teenagers, Eric and the Nothing, Heather Rose, Kris Hansen and many more. Music starts around 8PM, tickets $15. The show benefits the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

Kevin So at NEAMF
The New England Acoustic Music Festival is tomorrow just over the line in Putnam, CT. This year’s festival includes top artists like the Duke Robillard Trio, Patti Larkin and Kevin So. Luke and Will Mallett of the Mallett Brothers Band open up at Noon - Rhode Island based duo Cardboard Ox and singer-songwriter Ian Fitzgerald are also scheduled to perform. The Schemers at Sandywood
One of RI’s coolest bands ever, The Schemers, play tonight at Sandywoods in Tiverton. The 2015 inductees to the RI Music Hall of Fame only play a few shows a year, and every one is full of inspired rock and roll that has made then famous for over 30 years. Tickets are available $12 in advance, $15 at the door. Show begins around 7:30.

Burton Cummings
Guess who’s coming to Woonsocket tomorrow night? That’s right, the original singer/guitarist/keyboardist from the Guess Who, Burton Cummings. The hugely popular Canadian rocker is responsible for hits like “American Women,” “No Time,” and “These Eyes” and he’ll be singing those and more at the Stadium Theatre tomorrow night. Show begins at 8PM, ticket information here, and we promise, no more bad puns!

Lake Street Dive at Fete
Lake Street Dive is a band that excels in the modern R&B/Pop genre. Behind the soulful vocals and hipster stylings of lead singer Rachael Price, the Boston based quartet is in the process of making a breakthrough nationally. Next Thursday October 6 you’ve got a great opportunity to see them in a club setting as they appear at Fete Music Hall in Providence. Tickets information here.
