The holiday weekend means it’s a great time to get out and hear some live music. With fall festivals happening in Scituate, Providence, Woonsocket and more, it seems every local band is playing somewhere this weekend. We’ve got a few of the highlights below including jazz, rock, a rising folk band from Quebec, and a punk legend in Providence. “5 Live Music Musts" has the all the details.

Low Fidelity at Pop
We don’t usually preview art openings, but a special show tonight at Pop in Providence caught our eye. "Low Fidelity" includes an intimate performance from the legendary New York Dolls founder David Johansen aka Buster Poindexter. We don’t exactly know what to expect, but we do know that his band will include guitarist Mark Cutler of the Schemers. The show features the work of Bobby Grossman, celebrated for his photographs of David Bowie, Andy Warhol, the Talking Heads and Debbie Harry. The fun begins tonight at 6PM at Pop in Providence. Jonathan Edwards
“Sunshine” is in the forecast all weekend especially tonight when Jonathan Edwards plays the Narrows Center. The singer songwriter, best known for his hit “Sunshine,” has just released a new album, Tomorrow’s Child, and has undergone a career resurgence in recent years. Sixteen albums and 45+ years in, he’s still a road troubadour not to be missed. Tickets are $32 for the 8PM show.

Jazz at the Park Theatre
A show full of extreme harmony comes to the Park Theatre in Cranston tomorrow night when two vocal supergroups join forces, Multiple Grammy winner The Manhattan Transfer return to the Park along with friends Take 6 for a special combined performance. Jazz vocal fans won’t want to miss this special show. A few tickets remain starting at $45 for the 8PM show.

DeGraw and Grammer PPAC
Another big selling pair of recording artists comes to town on Monday as Gavin DeGraw and Andy Grammer play PPAC. DeGraw is a multi-platinum Grammy nominated artist known for hits “I Don’t Wanna Be” and “Chariot.” Grammer brings his top selling hits “Honey I’m Good” and “Good to Be Alive (Hallelujah).” Tickets start at $39 for the 7:30 show.

Les Poules A Colin
The Canandian folk group Les Poules A Colin make their Rhode Island debut Sunday night at the Blackstone River Theatre in Cumberland. The young five piece band, ages 19-25, grew up on the same street and have played together for years. They blend traditional and modern folk sounds in French and English on instruments including fiddle, guitar, bouzouki, banjo, mandolin, piano, bass and foot percussion. Tickets are $15 for the 7PM show.
