Another busy weekend on the local music scene starting off tonight with…
ZZ Top
The "Biggest Little State in the Union" welcomes that "Little Old Band from Texas" to Twin River tonight. It’s always a good time when ZZ Top is in town. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers will be bringing their signature groove and their famous beards to Lincoln. The show starts at 8PM – a few tickets remain starting at $64. Johnny Lang
Also, tonight, check out the guitar greatness of Jonny Lang, who'll be playing at the Park Theatre in Cranston. Since going out on the road as a teenager, Lang has developed into a top Rockin' Blues artist. He’s also just released a new album, Fight For My Soul, his first new recording in seven years. It’s another in a great line of shows at the Park Theatre. Tickets start at $35 – show starts at 8PM.

Saturday night, a massive line up of local and national talent will be at the Columbus Theatre to celebrate its first anniversary since re-opening last year. The "Revival 2013" show promises to be the highlight of the season and features performances from the Felice Brothers, The Low Anthem, Anais Mitchell, Roz and the Rice Cakes, Arc Iris, Tapestries, and Happiness, which includes members of Deer Tick and Ravi Shavi. This is a special show – come hear some of the best music in that RI has to offer. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 day of show. The music starts at 7:30.
Michael Franti
Also tomorrow night, Michael Franti and Spearhead are at Lupos. The band’s new album All People, was released this past summer to great reviews. Franti’s hip-hop based pop sound is infectious – expect to be dancing along with the band. Tickets start at $27.50, $30 Day of Show. Even better, Serena Ryder opens the evening. It’s an early show, starting at 7PM (Doors at 6PM). Don’t miss it!
Chris Cornell
Finally, Tuesday November 19, be sure not to miss a rare acoustic performance from Chris Cornell in the comfortable confines of The Vets. We’re looking forward to his setlist, which should feature hits from his groundbreaking bands Soundgarden and Audioslave, as well as solo work and covers. Cornell was there in the early years of the Grunge movement, perhaps he’ll share some stories in this “Unplugged” format. Tickets start at $45 and the show begins at 8PM. Bhi Bhiman, a Sri Lankan-American folk rock artist, opens the show.
