Bob Dylan appears tomorrow night at PPAC

Bob at PPAC

That's right, no last name needed … The legend, the myth, the man ... Bob Dylan will be rolling into town tomorrow night, "one night only," playing the Providence Performing Arts Center. The “Never-Ending Tour” returns to Rhode Island sans Duke Robillard who supported Bob’s last area appearance at the Ryan Center. Expect to hear some tunes from his upcoming album Shadows in the Night. It’s a sell out, but you never know, last minute tix are sometimes available. Check the website for details.

Buddy at Park Theatre

The guitarist, not the politician. It’s fair to say that Buddy Guy is the among the best, if not the best Blues artist in the world. With all due reverence, he’s eclipsed BB King as the ambassador of the Blues and as he continues to make great records and sell out shows into his late 70s. The show is close to a sell out tomorrow night as he returns to the Park Theatre in Cranston. Buddy’s apprentice, teen guitar whiz Quinn Sullivan opens.

Doug Plays Miles at Chans

Roomful of Blues trumpeter Doug Wolverton leads a Miles Davis tribute tonight at Chans. The band is made up of Rhode Island jazz royalty and includes Dan Moretti on tenor sax, Marcus Monteiro on alto sax, Joe Barbato on piano, Jesse Williams on bass and Marty Richards on drums. It’s an all-Miles show including a complete performance of the greatest jazz album ever made, Kind of Blue. Tickets are $18, show starts at 8PM.

Vivaldi at The Vets

Classical composers may not be as easily recognized by their surnames, but Antonio Vivaldi is known for composing the greatest violin concerto of all time. Tomorrow night, the Rhode Island Philharmonic performs Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, along with selections by Beethoven and Rossini. If you haven’t been in a while, check out our world class orchestra here in “the biggest little.”  Very few tickets remain starting at $45. Also, don’t forget the Rush Hour concert tonight – a shorter concert and bargain priced tickets!

Sierra Leone Refugee All Stars at the Met

There’s a special show Sunday at the Met featuring the Sierra Leone Refugee All Stars, a well-known afro-beat/reggae band. The show is being held to help radio stations provide life saving information to the people of Sierra Leone and Liberia in the battle against Ebola. Tickets are $20 and its an early show, beginning at 5PM. Check out the food trucks outside the Met and rock out for a great cause.

Coming next week … our Thanksgiving edition … thanking some top local artists and venues!
