Dave Rawlings at Lupos Tomorrow
Americana singer songwriter and RI native Dave Rawlings will be joined by his musical partner Gillian Welch at Lupo’s Saturday night. Rawlings and Welch essentially acted as the house band this summer at Newport Folk for “65 Revisited,” a special program in honor of Bob Dylan going electric. Rawlings has just released a new album, Nashville Obsolete, which is getting great reviews. Tickets for the hometown show start at $32.50 – note that this is an early start, beginning at 7PM.

Steve Forbert CD Release at Courthouse Center Tomorrow
Steve Forbert is probably best known for his 1980 hit “Romeo’s Tune” (“Meet me in the middle of the day, let me hear you say everythings OK …”). Once hailed as “the next Dylan,” Forbert has created a great body and work and adds to it tomorrow night with a record release party at the Courthouse Center for the Arts in West Kingston. His new album entitled Compromised, features songs exploring “life, love, turmoil and survival.” Tickets are available here for $25, show begins at 8PM.
Ani DiFranco at Park Theatre Sunday
Ani Difranco is known as the “little singer-songwriter” who became famous for her protest driven folk music. In recent years, she’s embraced jazz, soul, electronica and even more distant sounds. Her most recent album, Alergic to Water, is a sparse little gem – well worth checking out. She returns to Cranston's Park Theatre Sunday night at 7:30PM. Mike and Ruthy open – tickets start at $35.
Robert Earl Keen at The Met
Texas troubadour Robert Earl Keen saunters into town Tuesday November 17 for what promises to be a great show at The Met. Keen’s songs have been recorded by George Strait, Nanci Griffith and The Dixie Chicks and his latest release Happy Prisoner: The Bluegrass Sessions was well received. Local troubadour Mark Cutler opens at 8PM. Tickets are $30.
