Boston Calling

Boston calls this weekend with too many bands to mention. The Boston Calling Festival has grown to be one of the top urban festivals in the country, spread out over three days and now held two weekends a year. This weekend will totally rock with artists from all over the music map. Our favorites include Sufjan Stevens, Sia, and Lisa Hannigan tonight, Cortney Barnett tomorrow (fresh off her SNL appearance,) and Charles Bradley on Sunday. You may not yet be used to the hot weather, so wear your sunscreen and stay hydrated! Tickets are still available here and you can take the train. (Pictured: Courtney Barnett)

Luna at Columbus Theatre

Rolling Stone magazine once called Luna “the best band you’ve never heard of.” Well, now you’ve heard of them and it’s time to check them out at the Columbus Theatre Sunday night. The band was an underground indie favorite in the 90’s and early 2000’s with their layered guitar work and poetic lyrics. They’ve re-united for a tour and play Providence Sunday night.  RI’s Long Trees, who just released a new album, open at 8PM. Tickets are $25 and should be available at the door.
