The coolest band on the planet will be taking over The Narrows this weekend--Los Straitjackets.

Some hard choices to reach only Five Music Musts this week …

Miss the “old folky” days?  Well, they’re back tonight as The Kingston Trio visits the Park Theatre in Cranston. The hugely influential folk trio rose to prominence in the 1950s and early 1960s when the folk genre saw its heyday. They achieved enormous commercial success, with numerous top selling singles and albums.  The show is at 7:30 and tickets start at $25.

Also on Friday, Boston singer-songwriter Aoife O’Donovan plays at the Narrows Center.  A member of the alt-country outfit Crooked Still, O’Donovan is releasing her first solo album next week. The album, Fossils, is highly touted; it was featured in the New York Times last Sunday, and chosen as one of the seasons must-hear albums by Rolling Stone.  Show is at 8:00 – Tickets are $20.
