Jimmy Buffett appears on stage the same weekend as Fleetwood Mac at the Comcast Center.

The Summer Solstice ushers in warm weather and a huge concert weekend. Here are Five Musts…

Check out the Handsome Family tonight, June 21, at The Narrows Center in Fall River. The band recently released a concept album, “Wilderness,” where all song titles are animals. No smiling lions, tigers and bears though; mostly weird spooky animals–glowworms, eels and spiders–its classic creepy alt-country–let’s see how it works in concert. Tickets are $20–show is at 8:00. The Narrows Center also has Eric Clapton’s favorite musician, master guitarist Sonny Landreth next Thursday June 27.

If eels are a little too much to handle, you can jet down to the Newport tonight for some “Rock Lobster,” served B-52s style. The ever popular 80s party band is in town as part of the Sunrise Music Series. Show starts at 7PM–just a few tickets remain. Local Rockabilly band Supermags open the show.

Also tonight, a holy trinity of great local rock will be playing in the Speakeasy at Local 121 with Smith & Weeden, Burlapen and Morris & The East Coast promising to blow the roof off the joint. Show starts at 10PM, it's 21+ and only $5 at the door.

The Comcast Center in Mansfield has two mega-acts–if you’re a fan, you know by now. Fleetwood Mac on Friday June 21 and Jimmy Buffett on Saturday June 22. You can have your Mac attack and your “Cheeseburger in Paradise” over one glorious weekend. Limited seating is still available for both shows.

Closer to home, Saturday June 22 in Cumberland, the Blackstone River Theatre has its 3rd Annual Summer Solstice Festival. It’s a great day of family friendly entertainment with a distinct Celtic flavor.  You can hear well-known local bands like the Atwater Donnelly Trio and Pendragon, and well as touring acts like Cantrip and Aoife Clancy. The festival runs from 11AM–7PM at the Diamond Hill Park in Cumberland.
