The Newport Sunset Music Series will see 90's music man Chris Isaak perform some classics by the best.

It’s a wicked hot summer weekend…so listen to some cool music!

First up, head to the coast for the annual New Bedford Folk Festival on Saturday and Sunday. Tons of great artists, family activities, local food vendors, and low ticket prices make this festival a “Must See.” Check the website for all the details including over 50 artists performing. Tickets are only $20 a day, $25 for a weekend pass–kids under 12 are free.

An awesome old-time folk band in The Devil Makes Three will be throwing a benefit for Brown Bird's Dave Lamb at Fete in Providence on Saturday with a bunch of special guests joining the fray. Tickets are $20 and plenty of donations will be accepted with all the proceeds going to benefit Dave in his fight against Leukemia. Doors open at 7:30; come out and see an awesome band for a more than worthy cause!

Sunday features Sludge metal duo Jucifer headlining a show at Dusk with Woozy, Sangus, Legionaris & Sire rounding out the bill. Show starts at 9pm and tickets are $10.

Also on Sunday, country music fans can check out Montgomery Gentry at Indian Ranch in nearby Webster, MA. The Ranch has a super line up of country, roots and rock every summer–check their website! Tickets start at $42.50; kids $23.75–it’s an afternoon show–gates open at Noon.

Next Wednesday July 10, the Newport Sunset Music Series continues with Chris Isaak. Famous for his 90’s classic Wicked Game, Isaak has been busy lately recording Beyond the Sun, at Sun Studios in Memphis. The recent release covers classics by Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins, among others. It’s a great album! Opening for Chris Isaak is Cara Brindisi, and on the Point Stage, RI singer-songwriter Allysen Callery. Good seats still available–tickets start at $39.50. Get there early (5:30) to hear Allysen!
