John Mayer is on a roll with his world tour, which stops at the Comcast Center this weekend.

It’s a Saturday night special as we highlight some great shows tomorrow night for your 5 Live Music Musts...

Nick Lowe

Saturday night features four great shows beginning at The Narrows Center in Fall River. You know his music even though you may not know his name–his hits include “What’s So Funny ‘Bout Peace, Love, and Understanding,” and “Cruel to be Kind.” Nick Lowe has produced and appeared with numerous artists including Elvis Costello, Wilco, and Pretenders. It’s a rare chance to see this legendary musician–the show starts at 8:00 and tickets are $40, $45 day of show.

Littlewolf

You can stay at the beach Saturday night and rock out with Littlewolf at the Knickerbocker Café. The award winning roots/rock/blues band from Texas features Steve Lott’s guitar and Kristi Clanton’s vocals. We promise the SRV Texas guitar sound will blow you away! Show is at 8:00–tickets are $10, $12 at the door. Ben Watrous and Waterhouse open.

John Mayer

He’s back on the road after a three-year absence–John Mayer’s world tour stops by the Comcast Center Saturday night. The Grammy Award winner is getting great reviews on tour and his new album has a mellow country-rock feel reminiscent of a great 1970s album. You can check out iTunes for a free preview of the album, Paradise Valley, coming out next week. Phillip Phillips opens at 7:30–Tickets start at $48.

The Homegrown String Band

We love family bands here at GoLocal–and Saturday night Sandywoods in Tiverton has a great one–The Homegrown String Band. The Rocky Point, NY Americana/Roots band is made up of Georgianne and Rick Jackofsky and their two daughters, Erica and Annalee. They’ll bring a whole bunch of acoustic instruments to the show at 7:00–Tickets only $10, $12 at the door.

Meet Me at the Met

Finally, Meet Me at the Met next Tuesday August 20th. Meet Me at the Met is an upcoming TV series featuring local musicians to be broadcast starting in October on RI-PBS 36. Tuesday’s show features three great local acts: Vudu Sister, Sarah Azriel, and Allysen Callery. We expect to see some Hollywood style posing, and we promise the music will be as sweet as ever! The show starts promptly at 9:00–Tickets only 8 bucks! Look for a review next week right here at GoLocalProv.
