Arc Iris and Friends Play the Music of David Bowie Saturday Night at the Columbus Theatre in Providence

Gertrude Atherton

Indie rockers Gertrude Atherton, an all-female band from Providence, release a new album, Haunt, tonight at Aurora. Named after the outspoken American author, the band has a restless punk sound which is sure to rock the house. The bill also includes Providence alt-rockers Snowplows and The Invisible Hours, a fuzz-filled garage rock act also based in the capital city. Music starts around 9:30, $5 cover.

Celebrate Bowie Saturday

The stars will shine bright on the Columbus Theatre in Providence tomorrow night, when the illustrious venue hosts a David Bowie celebration featuring a number of top local artists. Led by nationally acclaimed RI band Arc Iris, the lineup includes MorganEve Swain, Death Vessel, Rafay Rashid, Roz Raskin, Brian Webb, Big Nazo, Allysen Callery, Chris Daltry and Emma Corbin. The festivities begin at 9PM, tickets are $15 in advance, $17 day of show. Proceeds benefit New Urban Arts and Youth Pride Inc.

Luke Bryan at Mohegan

Country Star Luke Bryan is playing two big shows this weekend down the road at the Mohegan Sun Arena. Bryan is one of contemporary country’s leading artists and has seen his career take off since winning Top New Artist at the 2010 Academy of Country Music Awards. The "Kill the Lights" tour is named for his 2015 album, which debuted at #1 on the charts. Dustin Lynch opens the evening - remaining tickets can be found here

Pixels at Dusk

Providence based Pixels, established in 2012 is a self-described “garage-lo-fi-slacker-punkie-psychedelic-rock band.” Today, they’re releasing Hello, a new EP full of raw punk power, and you can expect to hear lots from it tonight when they headline a show at Dusk. Openers include NYC’s Future Generations, along with RI’s Von Donovan and Little Tomb. Music starts around 9:30, $7 cover.

R5 at The Vets

Pop Rockers R5 stop off at The Vets in Providence Tuesday March 1 on their "Sometime Last Night" tour. The popular LA band is currently preparing to release their sophomore album after their first effort Louder, reached #1 on iTunes in 2013. Tickets available here for the 8PM show.
