Kiefer Sutherland headlines RI Comic-Con's 2018 guest list.

Rhode Island Comic-Con is returning to downtown Providence this weekend for the seventh straight year, but this time with an added venue - The Omni Hotel.

“What it really means is that we will have more room now for our celebrities and the fans to meet them. What we are doing is moving most of the celebs to the fifth-floor ballroom so there is more room for lines for fans to meet them,” said Susan Soares, press relations manager at Altered Reality Entertainment.

With the addition of the Omni Hotel, Comic-Con is also adding a second entrance, meaning the dreaded wait to get in should be significantly shorter.

“The other big change is that we will have two entrances as opposed to the one that we have had the last six years. So fans, when they line up, will have the option to enter the Dunkin Donuts Center or the Convention Center. This should cut the wait significantly,” Soares told GoLocalProv.

She continued, “We also have 3 different entree points for ADA attendees, so those with disabilities or those needing assistance will have three different entrances.”

RI Comic-Con takes place from Friday, November 2 to Sunday, November 4.

Comic-Con will be open from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Who is Coming?

This year’s guest list includes Kiefer Sutherland from the show 24 and Designated Survivor, Hayden Christensen from Star Wars Episodes two and three, as well as cast members from Game of Thrones, Stranger Things and Smallville.

“This year we have a big contingent of Game of Thrones actors which we are really excited about. In previous years, they have not been able to come because they were always filming the show,” said Soares.

She added, “We have such big guest list this year, so much diversity. I think this is the best guest list we have had in years."

Comic Book Vendors

Need to give love to the comic book vendors who will be at Comic-Con showing off and selling off their collections, some of whom will have traveled a significant distance to get here.

These are just normal people who happen to have comic book collections that are worth thousands, if not more.

Browse through their large selections and find a book, or a couple of books, to add to your collection, maybe you pick up your holy grail of comics, or maybe your new and looking to begin a collection.

This is a great place to start.
