This weekend’s events include Bill Nye at URI’s Ryan Center, the Providence Home Show at the Convention Center and the 18th Annual Flickers' Vortex Sci-Fi, Fantasy, & Horror Film Festival.

Beervana Fest 2017 at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet

Get over to RI's ultimate craft beer festival at the annual Beervana taking place at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet.

Tickets are $55 in advance and includes 1 tasting glass, 2 oz pours of more than 250 plus world-class beers, a festival guide and a bottle of water.

Stop into the educational seminars taking place on site to learn more about the world of craft beer.

Bill Nye the Science Guy at URI's Ryan Center

Bill Nye The Science Guy will be featured as part of the University of Rhode Island’s alumni and family weekend.

Nye has won seven national Emmy Awards for writing, performing and producing, and his show Bill Nye the Science Guy, won 18 Emmy’s in five years.

Nye has also written five children’s books about science.

The show begins at 8 p.m.

Fall Book Sale at Weaver Library 

Thousands of books will be available for $1 or less.

Hard and soft cover books are $1, children’s 50¢, pocket-sized paperbacks are 50¢ each or 3 for $1, CDs, DVDs and audio books are $1. Books are easily accessible and are sorted in more than 50 categories; novels are in order by author’s last name.

On sale are novels, vintage, and books on business, health, sports, cooking, gardening, science, history, art and more, as well as comics and puzzles. Benefit East Providence Public Library. 

The book sale is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. o Saturday.

McCourt Fall Harvest & Pumpkin Illumination 

Festivities this year include inflatable obstacles and games, face painting, amazing raffle items, concessions, food trucks, music and the Pumpkin Illumination Trail along the McCourt trails with a pumpkin carving contest that is available to anyone. 

The event goes from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Halloween Iron Pour at The Steel Yard 

The 12th annual Halloween Iron Pour transforms The Steel Yard’s headquarters into a fantasy-land of molten metal.

This family-friendly industrial art performance attracts nearly 2,000 spectators from around the region, who watch artists use the power of The Steel Yard’s tilt furnace as they pour more than 2,500 pounds of molten iron.

The evening also features a variety of delicious food, as well as theatrical and musical displays.

The event goes from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Head down to the Arcade in Providence, and shop at more than 25 vendors of vintage goods in one place for one day only.

Brews for Books at Adams Public Library 

Enjoy eight local breweries at the library. There will be entertainment and a silent auction too. All proceeds help to fund the library. 

The breweries include Newport Storm Brewery, Ravenous Brewery, Whalers Brewing Co., Ragged Island Brewing Co., Foolproof, Thimble Island, Ballast Point and Narragansett Beer.

The event goes from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

18th Annual Flickers' Vortex Sci-Fi, Fantasy, & Horror Film Festival

This year's festival includes a return of its popular H.P. Lovecraft Walking Tour, Oct. 21 and 22, free after-school KidsEye programs, the Campus Connections program, and two free forums that look behind the scenes at creating genre films in the Rhode Island.
