The annual Hope Street Block Party is set to take place on Saturday,.

It is the first weekend in June and there is plenty going on around the state of Rhode Island to keep you busy. From festivals to activities and shows, there are events for all ages. 

This weekend’s events include the annual Hope Street Block Party, Kite Flying Day, Styleweek Bridal and much more.

Ain't Misbehavin' at Theatre by the Sea

The Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s and 1930s comes to life in Aint Misbehavin’, the 2 hour, three-time Tony© Award-winning musical revue. Join five sensational performers on a journey through the timeless music of Thomas “Fats” Waller. You’ll be jumpin’ and jivin’ with memorable songs such as “Honeysuckle Rose,” “Ain’t Misbehavin’,” “Black and Blue,” “This Joint is Jumpin',” and “I’ve Got A Feeling I’m Falling.”

Showtime is at 8 p.m.

A Grande Fete by the River at Slater Mill Historic Site

Join the annual fundraiser in support of the Student Admissions Fund, which provides free and reduced-rate admissions for all student visitors.

The event will feature live music and dancing, with Boston Jazz All-Stars featuring Tim Ray & Bruce Bartlett.

The event goes from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Saturday at the Museum at Governor Henry Lippitt House 

Visitors choose between an interactive guided tour or a self-guided tour option. A family guide is available to visitors with children and hands-on objects from the teaching collection are integrated into the tour. Come experience history and make connections to today's world.

Annual Hope Street Block Party 

The event features two live music stages, with one geared towards children. There will be myriad activities, including a climbing wall, face painters, Y on the Move obstacle course, Chinese Lion performance, drum circle, and new this year Live Prov Wrestling.

There will be a curated art and craft market, and after you work up an appetite there will be food trucks, as well as beer, cocktails, and outdoor dining

The party goes from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Kite Flying Day at Watson Farm

Bring a kite to Watson Farm and enjoy a day of family fun. Watch a professional fly three kites simultaneously. Hike out to scenic fields where you can launch your own kite or just watch others enjoy this old-fashioned pastime.

Follow a guided or self-guided tour of the farm trails down to Narragansett Bay and back, make crafts, and go on a treasure hunt. Grab a kite, bring a picnic lunch if you wish, and come enjoy the breathtaking views of Narragansett Bay's West Passage. 

Kite flying day goes from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

What Cheer Day at John Brown House Museum

The RIHS’s annual celebration of the state’s history will feature dozens of costumed interpreters discussing life in the colony after the Sons of Liberty destroyed the infamous British customs schooner Gaspee.

Interact with them as they reckon with the revolutionary consequences, and enjoy family-friendly games, educational activities, and even a sneak preview of a virtual reality project.

Blessing of the Fleet at RI Yacht Club 

Bring your boat to RIYC to get blessed and participate in the Gaspee Days parade of boats.

Even if you don’t have a boat, all are welcome to come watch the event from the Rhode Island Yacht Club lawn. All of RIYC facilities will be open and available including pub and kitchen.

The event goes from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
