September turns into October this weekend and Newport is jammed packed with events for all ages.
This weekend’s events include the Bristol Burger Bash at Linden Place, the Norman Bird Sanctuary Harvest Fair, the final polo match of the season and more.

WW I Baseball at Cardines Field
The Naval War College will host a baseball game on Friday at Cardines Field in downtown Newport.
The program is a fun event with educational programming to mark the centennial of American involvement in World War I.
The Army-Navy baseball game will be played in period-accurate uniforms, and is a precursor to the opening of a new World War I exhibit at the Naval War College Museum this December.
The event goes from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Aquidneck Food Challenge at Aquidneck Grower's Farmers Market
Friday is the final day of the Aquidneck Food Challenge.
The Aquidneck Grower's Farmers Market is challenging community members to eat only food grown or raised locally, either on Aquidneck Island or caught in Narragansett Bay or in Rhode Island and its waters as a whole.
The event spans the entire day.

The Newport String Project returns to the Newport Art Museum with a concert that features Beethoven’s String Quartet in C sharp minor, op. 131.

Norman Bird Sanctuary Harvest Fair
The festival consists of the “Mabel Express” Barrel Train, Monkey Bridge, Mud Pit, Midway games and Children’s crafts tent invites kids of all ages to join in the fun.
There will also be crafters and artisans sell their items, enticing fair-goers to get a jump on holiday shopping. Local food and beer vendors offer an array of appetizing selections, while an impressive line-up of musicians rounds out the festive atmosphere.
The fair goes from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Bristol Burger Bash at Linden Place
Linden Place Museum’s Bristol Burger Bash brings together three elements that make for a great afternoon – burgers, beer, and bluegrass.
Head over and sample East Bay’s best burgers while enjoying local beers and wines and listening to down-home live bluegrass in the Linden Place ballroom and gardens.
East Bay’s top restaurants will bring their “burger” A-game, serving up mini burgers of all types – imagine beef, turkey, chicken, pork, seafood and more.
The burger bash goes from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
