Great Chowder Cook-Off at Fort Adams

The Great Chowder Cook-Off is the original and longest running event of its kind in the nation (37 years to be exact) and officially kicks off Rhode Island’s summer festivities.

Enjoy endless samples of traditional and exotic creations from our local, national and international competitors.

You vote for your favorites and the winners walk away with overflowing prize pots and bragging rights for the year!

Gilded Age Newport was an epicenter of American horticulture. The Breakers Greenhouses and cutting garden are a link to an era when estate gardeners ruled over complex operations that provided thousands of bedding plants, cut flowers and exotic houseplants for great estates.
