Wiith just 3 weeks left in the regular season, RIIL hockey is skating towards the finish line. This week's Top 10 features one change near the bottom, as well as a preview of several huge games in the coming week. With playoff hockey around the corner, this next week offers many matchups that will give us a good sense of who the team(s) to beat is/are down the stretch. With that, here is the updated Power Pack.

W. Warwick/EWG Co-op

Division Record: 13-1 (Division 3)

Overall Record: 13-1

 

West Warwick/EWG Co-op avenged its early-season loss to Narragansett with a 2-1 win last Saturday.  WW/EWG has now beaten every team in Division 3, and with a dominant +68 goal differential they're worthy of the final spot in this week's Top 10.

North Smithfield

Division Record: 9-4 (Division 2 North)

Overall Record: 10-5

 

North Smithfield won easily over Johnston/North Providence Co-op last weekend, and the Northmen hold onto their spot in the Top 10 for at least another week.  North Smithfield will face ALL of the Patriots this weekend, facing off against Portsmouth on Friday and Pilgrim on Saturday.

North Kingstown

Division Record: 10-4 (Division 2 South)

Overall Record: 10-4-2

 

North Kingstown returned to the Top 10 last week and put an exclamation point on their arrival with an impressive 11-4 drubbing of PCD/Wheeler/SRA Co-op last Saturday.  This week the Skippers are set to take on rival South Kingstown Friday night at URI's Boss Arena.

Cranston Co-op

Divison Record: 7-6-1 (Division 1 Eccleston)

Overall Record: 8-7-1

 

Cranston Co-op won an overtime thriller over Barrington last weekend, jumping back over the .500 line both in league play and overall.  Cranston has a huge challenge this weekend, however, as they'll take on Hendricken on Friday night.

Smithfield

Divison Record: 8-6 (Division 1 Eccleston)

Overall Record: 10-6

 

Smithfield had a decent weekend, beating Coventry 6-4 before dropping a 2-1 nail biter to La Salle.  The Sentinels keep their spot at #6 in the Power Pack, and they've got a very intriguing matchup against Cumberland on Friday. It will be interesting to see who prevails between the top Division 1 Eccleston team and the top team in Division 2.

Lincoln

Division Record: 13-1 (Division 2 North)

Overall Record: 13-1

 

Lincoln handled Toll Gate (8-0) with ease last weekend, and the Lions are distancing themselves from the teams in the latter half of the Power Pack with each blowout win.  The Lions play host to a solid Middletown team this Saturday.

Cumberland

Division Record: 13-0 (Division 2 North)

Overall Record: 14-0

 

Cumberland took care of business against Pilgrim and Rogers/Tiverton/Rocky Co-op, and the Clippers remain standing as the last undefeated team in Rhode Island.  The Clippers have a big weekend in front of them, taking on a good Division 1 team in Smithfield this Saturay and then facing Middletown on Monday.

La Salle

Divison Record: 7-3-1 (Division 1 Cimini)

Overall Record: 9-6-2

 

La Salle played well on back to back nights last weekend, tying Xavier (CT) Friday and knocking off Smithfield on Saturday.  The Rams have a chance to continue their momentum and make a statement this Friday night when they take on Mount St. Charles at Adelard Arena.

Mount St. Charles

Divison Record: 10-1 (Division 1 Cimini)

Overall Record: 13-5

 

Mount St. Charles knocked off Hamden (CT) in non-league play last Saturday, and the first place Mounties are entering their most important week of the season.  Mount will play La Salle on Friday night, and 5 nights later they take on Hendricken.  The upcoming week will give a clear indication as to who the team to beat is in Division 1.

Hendricken

Divison Record: 7-1-1 (Division 1 Cimini)

Overall Record: 11-3-1

 

Hendricken beat Hamden as well last weekend, continuing to match Mount St. Charles stride for stride.  The Hawks take on Cranston Co-op on Friday, Coventry on Saturday, and meet Mount in the game of the week next Wednesday night.
