Michael King of Hendricken has been a key to the Hawks undefeated season.

Everything's good in the life of Michael King. Bishop Hendricken's standout right-handed pitcher is looking prime to lead the Hawks on a title run much like the one he led a year ago.

The senior captain is undefeated on the mound this year and is one of the main reasons why the Hawks are the only unbeaten team in the state with a record of 15-0.

On May 13, King improved his record to 5-0 on the season, throwing a complete game against the rival La Salle Rams, extending Hendricken's lead in Division I North. In 15 games, Hendricken has scored 97 runs and has only allowed a total of 17 runs.

Back in November, King signed a National Letter of Intent to play at Boston College next season in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. The offer was well deserved for King, coming off of a season in which he earned Second Team All-State and First Team All-Division honors as a junior, posting a record of 6-2, and throwing two no-hitters in the process. He also played in the Summer Rivalry Classic at Yankee Stadium over the summer to showcase the Northeast's best talent, as well as the Area Code Games, a showcase for some of the top high school players in the nation.

A trip to Boston College may not be a sure thing, however, as King has drawn interest from some Major League Baseball scouts to potentially get drafted in next month's draft. If that doesn't happen, Boston College isn't a bad backup plan. The Eagles play in the Atlantic Coast Conference, suiting up against powerhouse teams such as Miami, Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida State, just to name a few.

Wherever King ends up, his fastball that can touch 90 miles per hour and a sharp 12-to-6 curveball should make him a legitimate professional prospect.
