High School Lacrosse All-Americans Announced

Monday, June 11, 2012

Brady O'Donnell of La Salle, Liam Donovan of Portsmouth and Jack Dillon of Barrington have been named US Lacrosse High School All-Americans by state coaches.

O'Donnell scored 40 goals and put up 27 assists this season, which placed him fourth in the state in scoring (67 points). He helped lead La Salle to an undefeated season and the school's first lacrosse championship.

"In my opinion, Brady is the best player in the state," said his head coach and father, Steve O'Donnell. "He's the toughest matchup out there, lefty or righty. He's the prototypical attacker, he knows how to hide the ball, and he's got great lacrosse IQ."

O'Donnell was a consistent scoring threat all season, and notched a huge insurance goal--the final tally in  La Salle's 9-7 win over Moses Brown in the Division 1 championship game.

Liam Donovan led Portsmouth High School with 50 points on 28 goals and 22 assists. Portsmouth finished 3-9 on the season.

"Liam is a very good player," said O'Donnell. "He probably doesn't get the credit he deserves because he matches up with the other teams' best defenseman every game. He's very quick, he's got good stick skills, and can shoot as well as pass. He's a terrific player."

Dillon led Barrington to the Division 1 semifinals, and is considered one of the top defensemen in the state.

"I may be a little biased here, but I had a chance to work with Jack all spring, and I would be hard-pressed to find another defender that is as disruptive as he is," said Barrington head coach Jeff Popham.

"He's a really strong athlete, and he's got good patient aggressiveness. He just gets after opponents with the ball and forces more turnovers than any other defenseman in the state," Popham said. "He's got a knack for picking up groundballs...if he's battling with someone for possession, four out of five times he's going to come up with the ball, and he's going to do something good with it when he gets it," he said.
