What are you looking forward to for this season?

Keeping my players healthy and competing for a playoff spot in Division I.

What’s been your greatest success as a coach?

Winning a league championship in my first year as head coach.

What’s been your biggest failure?

I am not sure “failure” is an appropriate word for this; I would prefer “disappointment.” To that end, I would have to say that losing any game you are expecting to win is a huge disappointment.

Who have been the best players you’ve coached?

Sam Sager, who is currently a Junior captain at Tufts University. Also, Graham Tyler, who is currently a Junior captain at Brown University. They both graduated from Moses Brown in 2008 and played the game with a burning passion.

How do you motivate your players?

I coach with a strong work ethic and expect my players to reciprocate. I expect myself along with all coaches under me to be fair to all players. Players respect fairness and will respond accordingly. “Fun” is also a key ingredient. Baseball is a game – I always get more mileage out of players that are relaxed and having fun.
