With the transition from winter sports to spring in full motion - it is time to meet Priscilla Tyler, Wheeler High School lacrosse player.

What has been the biggest challenge being a high school athlete?

My biggest challenge as a high school athlete has been learning how to balance sports with academics. Playing for my school, Wheeler, and a club team, Revolution Lacrosse, has been challenging because Rev is a huge time commitment. It has definitely been worth it!

Who is your biggest motivator?

My biggest motivators are my parents because they have pushed me my entire life. They have supported me in whatever I have wanted to pursue. They have also dealt with my incredibly difficult and busy schedule by driving me to tournaments and practices. Also, they have barely missed a game throughout all of my seasons!

Who is your biggest rival?

We have a long-standing rivalry with Moses Brown School. It is always a great competitive game but it is even more fun to get to play against some of my friends.

What are you working on to improve your game?

To improve my game, I am working on mostly my speed and also strength. I can always use improvement on all aspects of my game. The best way to improve my stick work is to play wall-ball as much as I can.

What is your greatest memory on the field?

My greatest memory on the field was two years ago when we played Lincoln School in the semi-finals. We were down by 1 with 15 seconds to go and I scored the tying goal. Lincoln had won the year before but we went on to win the Championship, which was awesome.

How are you able to balance your schoolwork with practices, games, and training?

Balancing schoolwork, practice, and training has been difficult but I have learned how to work efficiently. Taking advantage of free periods has been really helpful to get my work done. Still, I have definitely sacrificed a lot of sleep and a lot of time I could be spending with friends to finish my schoolwork and keep up with my sports.

I was accepted early decision to Amherst College. I will be playing lacrosse for them, which I am very excited for!
