How was the transition from being a high school athlete to becoming an athlete in college?
GET THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS HERE -- SIGN UP FOR GOLOCAL FREE DAILY EBLASTThe transition from being a high school athlete to becoming an athlete in college took some getting used to. In high school, riding was done after school and on the weekend but now it’s before class as well. I find myself walking around campus in either workout clothes or riding clothes.
What do you miss most about playing in high school?
I miss the fun of being a high school athlete. I'm not saying college athletics isn't fun because there are a lot of benefits to being an athlete at a Division I school. Yet, it feels like a bit more of a job. It is a much bigger time commitment with more restrictions on what you can do outside of the ring.
What is your biggest challenge as a college athlete?
My biggest challenge as a college athlete would be learning to fit everything in my schedule during the week. From workouts, to practice, to team meetings, to tutors and advisor meetings it becomes a bit difficult to fit in time to be a normal college student. That was a big challenge first semester. Once I got into the swing of things it has become easier.
What has been the most rewarding aspect of your athletic career?
The most rewarding aspect of my athletic career was the day I signed the National letter of Intent to OSU. It finally felt like my 14 years of riding had paid off in a bigger sense.
