GAME ON: First Big Show Down in Girls’ Tennis

Wednesday, September 14, 2011

Yesterday was the first big match in RI D-I girl's tennis with Mount St. Charles and Lincoln School battling. For the past few years, four teams have dominated Mount, Bay View, Lincoln and LaSalle. With the graduation of all-world player Rebecca Curran off to Williams and key graduations at Mount, the field is more open. Yesterday's match showed it may be a battle all year.

Mount won the #1 match up with Meghan Lydon besting Lincoln, but from there the match that was close at every turn and went to Lincoln School 4-3.  With the impact of tropical storm Irene still impacting the schedules, the D-I tennis match ups will be fluid for the first few weeks.

Other key match ups this week:

Bay View at LaSalle Friday

Moses Brown at Mount Friday

It should be a very competitive season in girls' tennis
