GAME ON: Boys’ Hockey Championship Tonight

Friday, March 18, 2011

For the 17th time since 1981, Mount St. Charles and Bishop Hendricken are back at it again. The Mounties and The Hawk’s will be meeting in the Division-I state title series for the chance to be part of their schools history once again. Against Mount, a team with a long line of success stories stemmed from the Rhode Island hockey scene, the Hawks surely will have their work cut out, competing against one of the best hockey programs in the United States.

With 29 goals and counting, offensive powerhouse Trevor Plante will look to continue the Mounties reign in RI Div. I hockey. Seniors, Zack Samborsky, Mike Magerman, and Alex Erban will also pose a threat for the Hawk’s defense with their combined 82 regular season goals.

Junior forward, Rob Buehrer will help the Hendricken Hawk’s seek revenge against Mount after suffering back-to-back losses to them in the regular season.

Mount will be going for its fourth consecutive State Championship and its 31 in the past 34 years.

This classic showdown will also be played in a three-game-series at Schneider Arena starting Friday at 7:30pm. The second game will be held on Saturday at 7:30pm, and the third game on Monday, also at 7:30pm (if necessary).
