Fundraiser for Mackenzie Twins - Hendricken Football and Lacrosse Players

Thursday, December 15, 2011

This Saturday, December 17th, a fundraiser is being held to support James and Chris Mackenzie, who were seriously injured in a head-on collision on Newport’s Pell Bridge on October 21st. The 16-year-old twins attend Bishop Hendricken High School, where they play football and lacrosse. The accident occurred on their way home from a football game against East Providence. The twins have garnered support from classmates, friends, and family on Facebook and Twitter, and fundraising bracelets were made available by the family following the accident. Friends reached out to over 4000 people on Facebook in organizing an event called “wear green for the Mackenzie boys!” which called for participants to wear green, Hendricken’s main school color, on November 1st to show support for them and their family.

Effort to Support the Family

The fundraiser, starting at 9:00 a.m. and concluding at 3:00 p.m., will consist of lacrosse games, raffles, and food. The donation is $15.00 per player and $10.00 per spectator. Children 5 and under are free. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the gate. Bishop Hendricken is located at 2615 Warwick Avenue in Warwick, RI. If you wish to buy tickets in advance, volunteer for the event, or make a donation, contact Alyssa Quattrucci at
alyssaquattrucci@gmail.com or Michele Quattrucci at mriccitelli1@cox.net. Please show your support for these local athletes.
