Parents spend hours on the sidelines cheering on their children at sporting events, hoping that they will one day land a college athletic scholarship. However, the reality is that very few athletes get recruited sitting back and waiting for coaches to call. It is critical to understand how to market yourself to colleges and the different rules  associated with D1, D2 and D3 teams. D1 schools have a handful of big athletic scholarships, but don't discount the abundance of wealthy D3 colleges where you may see more lucrative merit and need-based aid packages!
