NEW: Chiropractor Suspended for Sexually Massaging Young Patient

Friday, September 02, 2011

Pedro DeAlmeida, an East Providence chiropractic physician, has had his license suspended by RI Department of Health (HEALTH) for inappropriately massaging, kissing, and texting an 18-year-old patient.

According to documents from HEALTH, on August 27, DeAlmeida saw the patient for neck pain in a private examination room. "The Respondent massaged the young patient's 'bottom' and then turned her over and began kissing her," according to documents from HEALTH.

"As the young patient was preparing to leave, the Respondent kissed her again and told her they should get together again, and as she was going to her car, the Respondent followed her and pressed her to take his cell phone number which is wrote on the back of his business card."

"Please don't contact me"

Shortly after the patient left, DeAlmeida texted her with an invitation to meet him. "Please don't contact me," she texted back. DeAlmeida persisted in texting his patient with the most recent text received on September 1, two hours after HEALTH's investigator spoke to DeAlmeida about the complaint.

DeAlmeida's suspension is effective immediately and continues indefinitely.
