NEW: East Side Physician Marvin Kerzner MD Suspended From Practice
Friday, May 25, 2012

Dr. Kerzner, who is 81 years old and whose principal place of business is Summit Medical Group at 154 Waterman Street in Providence, is under investigation by the Board after the Physician Health Committee (PHC) of the Rhode Island Medical Society expressed concerns about the "status of [Dr. Kerzner's] clinical competency." According to documents filed with HEALTH, "another physician expressed concerns to the PHC after two of his patients told him of problems. Specifically, the concern expressed was that the Respondent seemed 'erratic and distracted.'"
The Board opened an investigation that required Dr. Kerzner to file an answer with the Board. He failed to do so. Subsequently, the Board requested a response in answer to questions regarding three more patient files. Dr. Kerzner has not replied to any of these communications.
According to HEALTH, Kerzner spoke to administrative staff at the Board "and appeared confused and erratic and difficult to understand." Further, records that were obtained by the Board's investigator were reviewed and found "not to meet minimum standards."
Dr. Kerzner is suspended from practicing medicine until further notice.

This guy and his family ran Highland Court, which went bankrupt and failed to pay security deposits to former residents.I hope he rots in hell.He turned an independent living facility into a bust out joint.

I don't know about the Highland Court situation, but as a longtime patient of Dr. Kerzner's, I have always found him to be competent, compassionate, professional and dignified. In the 90's, I was admitted to Miriam Hospital for a lengthy stay of 19 days. Each day,he came to inquire about my well-being, relieve my anxieties, etc. Numerous hospital staff related to me how fortunate I was to be under his care during that period. I have always received the best medical attention from this fine man and suggest that he be shown respect at this difficult time.

I wouldn't know one thing about Dr.Kerzner as a doctor-I was addresing his practices as owner/operator of Highland Court-my late mom wound up lying on the floor of her room with a broken neck for 8 f**kin' hours because she was supplied with a defective alarm device. Then, after she recovered months later, and the place was going into bankruptcy, they failed to refund her security deposit after she found other housing. They took a nice, safe place for older people and turned it into a stopover for transients-so maybe Mr.Maguire, you have reason to respect this man-I sure don't.
