NEW: Carole Jenny MD Reelected to Pediatrics Leadership Post

Carole Jenny, MD, FAAP, has been reelected District 1 Vice Chairperson of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Dr. Jenny was reelected for a three-year term and will assist the District Chairperson with district duties and responsibilities that include supporting chapter officers with AAP initiatives, and overseeing budget and fiscal obligations in the following states: Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine and New Hampshire.

Dr. Jenny has been a member of the AAP for 25 years. She has served on the chapter boards in Colorado and Rhode Island, as vice president and president of the Rhode Island Chapter, as chair of the Section on Child Abuse and Neglect and chair of the Committee on Child Abuse and Neglect. She has edited or co-authored three books published by the AAP: The Visual Diagnosis of Child Physical Abuse (1994), The Visual Diagnosis of Child Sexual Abuse (1998) and Medical Child Abuse: Beyond Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy (2009).

Dr. Jenny is a member of the AAP Section on Child Abuse and Neglect, Section on International Child Health, Section on Seniors, and Council on Injury, Violence and Poison Prevention. In 1999, she received the AAP’s first Award for Outstanding Service to Maltreated Children. Dr. Jenny is professor of pediatrics at the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University. She has been active in pediatric practice since 1983. She also is director of the Child Protection Program of Hasbro Children’s Hospital.

During her first term as District I Vice Chair, Dr. Jenny worked on increasing communication and collaboration among New England chapters. She graduated from Dartmouth Medical School and the University of Washington, and has an M.B.A. in health care from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
