Rhode Island Hospital Honored with LGBT Leadership Designation
Wednesday, December 03, 2014
Rhode Island Hospital has earned leadership designation from the Human Rights Campaign for the hospitals commitment in providing the best practices in lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender care.
“We have worked tirelessly to assess our employee interactions with members of the LGBT community at Rhode Island Hospital,” said Laurie Sawyer, chairperson of Spectrum, which is Lifespan’s LGBT employee resource group.
Lifespan has always been a leader in employment non-discrimination, allowing an employee's same sex partner to be covered as either a family member or a dependent on health insurance. All before same sex marriage was legal in Rhode Island.
